Suprematism is a modernism that has its origins in Russia. It was developed by Kazimir Malevich 1912/13 from the ideas of the futurism.  

This represented the first genuinely non-figurative art direction.
The initial work was "Black Square" by Malevich, which represents only a black square painted with oil colors, on a white background.
Malevich presented the painting as a central work in the exhibition of the Russian Futurists "0.10" in 1915.
It was stressed not only by the simple composition, but also by the special position in the exhibition. He positioned the canvas on the wall corner, 

just below the ceiling.

"The effort was not directed to reproducing the totality of the object,  

but on the opposite its pulverization and segmentation into its basic elements, 

was essential for the production of picturesque contrast." (Kazimir Malevich)

Suprematismus

Der Suprematismus ist eine Stilrichtung der Moderne, die in Russland ihren Ursprung hat. 
Sie wurde von Kasimir Malewitsch 1912/13 aus den Ideen des Futurismus entwickelt. 
Es handelte sich hier um die erste konsequent ungegenständliche Kunstrichtung.

Das Initialwerk war "Schwarzes Quadrat" von Malewitsch, 

das lediglich ein schwarzes, mit Ölfarben gemaltes Quadrat, auf weißem Hintergrund darstellt.

Malewitsch präsentierte das Gemälde als zentrales Werk,

bei der Austellung der russischen Futuristen "0.10", 1915.

Nicht nur durch die einfache Komposition, sondern auch durch die besondere Position in der Ausstellung wurde es hervorgehoben. Er positionierte die Leinwand nämlich über die Wandecke direkt unter der Decke.

"Die Anstrengung richtete sich nicht darauf, die Gesamtheit des Gegenstandes wiederzugeben, sondern in Gegenteil, seine pulverisierung und zerlegung in seine Grundelemente, war unerlässlich zur Herstellung von malerischen Konstrasten." (Kasimir Malewitsch)
